Mieks has just gone down for a sleep, she is exhausted after her 1st Birthday Party on Sunday. I can't believe 12 months has flown by so quickly!

Mieks is doing really well. She is crawling (quickly) and keeping us on our toes. She is trying to pull herself up of the furniture and gets a bit frustrated when she can't do exactly what she wants. Her temper is starting to show through, a few tantrums when she hasn't got her own way, and stubborn when she has her heart set on something. Not sure where that comes from?????

Ballarat has been a great move for us. Sam is home a lot earlier in the evenings and Mieks is loving having him around a lot more. They have great fun rolling around on the lounge floor when he gets home. Sam is enjoying his new job and is underground having a look around one of the mines this afternoon, glad it's him, don't think I could do it.

I'm still loving being at home, no plans to go back to work. I have started taking Mieks to a session called "Mainly Music", think its called that because the little bit that's not music is religion. I just ignore that but, the music itself is heaps of fun. The kids then sit around together and have morning tea, it's so cute. Think we will try and get her into some swimming as well, keep her hips fit!

As you can see by all the photos, Mieke turned 1 on Sunday, I can't believe it. We had a few friends and family over for lunch and Sam & I made a duck birthday cake. It was heaps of fun. The cake didn't taste that great, but it looked pretty good. I was extremely pleased with our first birthday cake efforts.

Mieke is a real chatterbox (not sure where that comes from either), I had to make a list for her baby book the other day. Some of her favourite words are
  • Daddy
  • Mum
  • duck
  • stuck
  • yuck
  • bird
  • dog
  • woof
  • magpie
  • cuckoo
  • GAR (Great Aunt Rob)

She loves "singing" and doing the actions for Miss Polly had a Dolly and Twinkle Twinkle.

Thanks to everyone who remembered Mieke's birthday, you made it a really special day for all of us.

Paula
