The VanDemons: 2007

Seems like such a long time since I have done a decent update......so here goes.

Mieke is now 7 1/2 months old and growing quickly, she is about 7.5kgs and 64cm long. Her hips are healing well and is now only sleeping in her brace, we are back to see the Orthopaedic Surgeon in late January. Now Mieks is 'free from her shackles' she is rolling over and sitting up for short periods. She is loving the fact that she can get around so quickly, but needless to say we are having a few bingles. No crawling yet, but I suspect that is not far away.

Mieks is a very happy baby and is great fun to be around. She is still sleeping through the night and having 2 or 3 good naps during the day. Her favourite food at the moment is stewed pears and her least favourite is brocolli. I think Sam wore most of that last night. She thinks she is very funny when she can blurt food across the room. We try our hardest not to laugh, but it is just too funny.

On Saturday 24 November, Mieks said her first word, which of course was "DAD". It was very exciting and we were both with her which was good timing.

There are 2 teeth trying to push their way through on Mieke's bottom gum. They are taking their time, but don't seem to be giving her all that much trouble. Like any child, anything she can get her hands on goes straight in her mouth!

We are really looking forward to our first Christmas, but I want to buy everything I see. I know that she will have more fun with the wrapping paper than with the gifts, but I still can't stop myself. I'm sure we won't be the only ones to spoil Mieks.
