We are back in Germany

Bye bye Scandinavia, we have had a great time.

Back to the lands of (almost) a single currency for a few months. No more rifling thru the various types of Crowns and Kronor in your pocket to pay for a loaf of bread or a newspaper.

No icecreams though, its been fairly wet and cold for about the last 10 days.

In two days we'll be joined by a few guests for a few weeks. Not sure how we'll go squeezed into the van, but Ryan's easy to get along with so we'll see!

Dont forget to send us lots of emails - we're feeling very dejected! Thanks to Rish, Kerry, Stace and Wellsy for dropping us an 'e'. Hope your last day went ok Kerry and all the best for the future!

Have been trying to get a later flight home (currently Sept 25 arrival). But Qantas changed their FerquentFlyer policy in March. As a whole bunch of people were going to lose all their really old points, everyone has booked all the flights from London to Melb year to go! So maybe we'll stick with that date. Home just in time for the September storms that always hit the Western District in the last week of Sept.

Better go now, think the kebab shop owner is wise to us using his Internet connection.

Mike, remember that Schintzel presentation you sent me? We're gonna try and find the restaurant! Will keep you posted!

Auf Wiedersehn!

Oresund bridge from the dashboard.
Another of Paula's great B&W photos, the Oresund bridge spans about 17km between Denmark and Sweden. Sailboat in the background.
We managed to make a visit to the Koenigsegg facility. Thanks so much for Christian and John's hospitality, and their time to show us around and to listen to my presentation on Lean Thinking. What a great production site and of course what a great product! Thats all I'm saying after signing a confidentiality agreement..
Local confection from teh bakers. Tasted like fish flavoured meringues. Not our favourite at all!
The 5 viking ships in the museum were pulled out of the mud recently, dating back to about 1200 AD. Really fascinating stuff and nice to look at.

Some people like to camp a little too close!!! Roskilde..
The camper by a wheat paddock in Sweden, outside Ugglarp.
These ancient stones were by the road in a paddock at Ugglarp.
M&M restaurant on Angelholm even had blankets for the patrons to keep warm. Nice to get dressed up and go out for dinner - on our pushbikes!
Camping on the beach at Ugglarp. A nice quiet spot. A lot like the south coast of Victoria actually.
George Jetson was camping in Goteburg. Nice one!
Its been sooooo wet outside the last week.
Goteburg in Sweden was great. Didnt manage to catch up with Mike and Rhonda's mate Fredrik though.

Back to Sweden

We're just over the border into Sweden, after leaving Norway. Oslo was very expensive and not so nice as the rest of Norway - probably the least favourite bit. Which is ok, becaused the rest of Norway was just so good.

This morning we met some nice American folks who are coming to Australia for the fifth time in January. Maybe we'll catch up with them then, they're doing the Great Ocean Road on this visit.

Better roll, gotta go lay in the sun!

Sambo.
Norway's highest and longest plateu. Awesome.
Wouldnt let us borrow the keys... Or swap for the motorhome.
Spotto!

A great day, and a chance meeting with the king.

Today we have seen a lot.

We traveled across Norway's ice covered plateaux and thru a 7.5 km long tunnel. Amazing scenery!

At one point Paula noticed a supercar at a roadside stop with a few people gawking. I didn't think too much of it but thought we'd taken a wrong turn, so headed back.

The car turned out to be a Swedish Koenigsegg (the world's fastest and most expensive supercar at a bit over $l.2 million Australian dollars). Paula and I had a bet over spotting one in Scandinavia.

But the surprise was to see the company owner and CEO - Christian Von Koenigsegg sitting by it! After saying hello (feeling a little foolish in boardshorts!) I mentioned that I had emailed the company a few months back asking for a visit but that I didn't have any luck.

Christian kindly handed me his business card and told me to email him and tee up a visit. Nice one!

Needless to say I have to go now and write an email!
Love to all.

We're in Norway.

Norway is just so beautiful. No words can do it justice. The mountains with ice waterfalls, the rivers, and the fjords out to the ocean.

Just save your pocketmoney and come here. Its like nothing else.

Better go, I think the guy inside the shop has realised I'm pinching his bandwidth.

Babe in Alesund. This is our camping spot in the center of the city! About 20 other campers here.
Norwegian Fjord
Norwegian summer?
Dashboard trinkets
Swedish waterfall.
Over 30% of Finland's area is water. No droughts here. Ever. And so many fish with all those mosquitoes..
Paulsie at the Arctic Circle in Roviniemi.
Caught 5 fish in this tv quality fishing spot. But oh the mosquitoes! Fished here 2 years ago - nice to come back and try it with your own gear from home! Even caught a big pike, about 40cm. Not much to brag about with this one though..
Wood carving comp in Kemijarvi. My favourite was by a New Zealander...
Another ferry crossing
Rain came in during allnite drive. Slept 3hrs at a servo and kept going.

We're in Norway

We're in Norway after moving thru Swedish and Finnish lapland.

Rough day - had a small car accident but all ok. Only the side mirror lens cracked but was a close call. Other guy tried to be nice and admitted fault, less than 100 dollars damage. so not so bad. Going for a beer and rest.

Will post some reindeer photos soon. Ville, thanks for the navigation machine, works great in Sweden & Norway!
